What has happened to the real social life?!

Hi there! You haven't seen me for a while, but I'm back!

Lately I've been observing the influence of Social Media in real social life.
And all I can say is: What the f*ck is happening to us?!

Let me give you some examples, probably you'll recognize yourself.
Saturday night. Want to spend with some friends. Call to action: a post on Twitter, a message on Facebook, maybe a WhatsApp message or even a normal text. Well, alright, Social Media is a nice tool. But then...

A few minutes later. Gathering at the bar. We go inside. All are there. And what is happening next? One by one, the mobile phones start to pop up out of the pockets. People checking in at Foursquare, maybe they've just become 'Mayor' of the bar! Others are sharing their location on Facebook. Even some tweets are send out to the 'social world' that we are hanging out in that bar. Hello?! Where are we at this moment? Is it going to be any more social then where we are right now?!

A real life situation, friends all gathered around, and still there is the urge to share what is going on. Even when 98% of all people who actually care about those messages are standing right beside each other.

Have we become more social, now that we all are using social media? I don't think so. What would happen if we all just commit social suicide? Would we fall back in a big, empty and dark space?

To bad, that is going to be a question for a very long time. But if you have read this message, think about it. And think what you are doing in a situation as above. Let me know what you think!
